Today's discussion highlighted the progress being made to eradicate polio. This current campaign is driven by a $200 Million Challenge by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In all the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation pledged a combined US$555 million - all of it in support of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.  There are still 4 countries not yet in control of polio

HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
The Woodbury Lunch and Breakfast Clubs have united for the purpose of raising funds to provide one ShelterBox for Haitian Earthquake Relief . A ShelterBox cost $1,000.00 delivered to the recipient.  This is an unfunded challenge that we’ve accepted. Pres Jim and the members present at Tuesday's lunch meeting agreed to solicit the membership to raise our $500.00 share. The membership recommended that a $25 per member will reach our $500.00 goal

GOOD FOR BUSINESS IN NJ

Striped bass are of significant value as sport fishing, and have been introduced to many waterways outside their natural range. A variety of angling methods are used, including trolling and surf casting top water lures are a good pick for surf casting. Striped bass will take a number of live and fresh baits including bunker, clams, sandworms, herring, bloodworms, and mackerel with shad being the best bait for freshwater striper fishing.

The largest striped bass ever caught by angling was a 78.51b specimen taken in Atlantic City, New Jersey on September 21, 1982 .. The record-holder is Albert McReynolds, who fought the fish from the beach for an hour and twenty-minutes before landing it in the surf.

 Phase II

 of Rotary Park upgrade

is underway

This phase will entail raising funds to install a monument as a recognition for our nation's sons and daughters who served our Country:  Past, Present, Peacetime, Wartime, Killed, or Survived.

Thought for the Week

The Matthew effect (or "accumulated advantage") in sociology is the phenomenon where "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer". Those who possess power and economic or social capital can leverage those resources to gain more power or capital. The term was first coined by sociologist Robert K. Merton in 1968 and takes its name from a line in the biblical Gospel of Matthew: For to all those who have, more will be given, and they will have an abundance; but from those who have nothing, even what they have will be taken away. -

Matthew 25:29, New Revised Standard Version
