Herb’s been there and done that. This will be Herb’s third term as District 7640's representative when he attends the 2010 Council on Legislation. Herb was nominated during Rotary year 2007-08 giving him much need time to become familiar with agenda. The RI Board of Directors encourages districts to select representatives from among the best-qualified eligible Rotarians who are well-informed about current Rotary policies, procedures, and programs. Herb certainly excels in all these categories.

Quote of the Day

Our country is not

the only thing

to which we owe

our allegiance.

It is also owed to justice

and to humanity.

Patriotism consists not

in waving the flag,

but in striving

that our country

shall be righteous

as well as strong

HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
The Woodbury Lunch and Breakfast Clubs have united for the purpose of raising funds to provide one ShelterBox for Haitian Earthquake Relief . A ShelterBox cost $1,000.00 delivered to the recipient.  This is an unfunded challenge that we’ve accepted. Pres Jim and the members present at Tuesday's lunch meeting agreed to solicit the membership to raise our $500.00 share. The membership recommended that a $25 per member will reach our $500.00 goal

President Jim's Weekly Message

Dear Woodbury Rotarians:
The Woodbury Community Yard Sale and Spring Planting at the Epple Garden will be held at Rotary Park, Saturday, April 24th from 9-2 PM. Members are requested to donate 2-3 items. The more items our club offers for sale, the more money we can raise for our cause. Donated items can be dropped off in advance to ROMAR Tire (located right behind Walgreens). Help is needed from each member to help market the event. Let's all get involved to make this a great event. Our next Social at the Barnesboro Inn will be held Wednesday, April 28 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.

For the Good of Rotary,

Pres. Jim

Enjoy Rotary! Get involved and experience the joy of "Making Dreams Real!"

Rotary Factoid

In the early years, there were no bylaws or constitutional documents in Rotary. Charles A. Newton, a 1905 Chicago Rotarian, wrote in 1927: "We worked on a gentleman's agreement with a complete understanding of our rules. Members were elected by a viva voce vote in open meetings, and one negative vote was sufficient to keep a man out. A model constitution and bylaws to which all clubs would comply was presented and approved at the 1912 Rotary Convention in Duluth, Minnesota. Over the next few years, these governing documents were revised and, in some places, rewritten, but their central theme remains at the heart of what guides Rotary today.

Thought for the Week

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened - everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger. "God, how could you do this to me?" he cried.

Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to rescue him. "How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they replied. (God Works In Mysterious Ways
