Today's Program

"Akweli Parker - Business Presentations"

The presenter program was Akweli Parker of Digital Delta Media, LLC, an organization dedicated to helping businesses communicate much more effectively. His presentation was very interesting, informative, exciting and concise. He communicated his purpose well and many of the Rotarians present left the meeting to return to their work places with some new insight on what it means to communicate effectively. To learn more about effective communication in your business – check out the ideas presented on www.digitaldeltamedia.com

HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
The Woodbury Lunch and Breakfast Clubs have united for the purpose of raising funds to provide one ShelterBox for Haitian Earthquake Relief . A ShelterBox cost $1,000.00 delivered to the recipient.  This is an unfunded challenge that we’ve accepted. Pres Jim and the members present at Tuesday's lunch meeting agreed to solicit the membership to raise our $500.00 share. The membership recommended that a $25 per member will reach our $500.00 goal

Rotary Factoid

During the 1914 Houston convention, a committee was appointed to design a flag for all Rotary clubs. Russell Greiner of Kansas City, Missouri sketched an acceptable design. The main portion was to be white which is the banner of internationalism and is looked upon as lily white banner of international amity and goodwill. In the center of the flag appears the official emblem of the organization worked out in gold and blue and containing the words "Rotary International." The blue stands for constancy of purpose, and the gold for the pure standard upon which rotates the wheel of eternal purpose.

Business Note of the Day

Life Is a Gift!
Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak.
Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat.
Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's crying out to God for a companion.
Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who went too early to heaven.
Before whining about the distance you drive - Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.
And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job.
And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and think: you're alive and still around.

 Phase II

WHAT'S NEW?

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

The Amazon rainforest produces more than 20% of the world's oxygen supply.

The Amazon River pushes so much water into the Atlantic Ocean that, more than one hundred miles at sea off the mouth of the river, one can dip fresh water out of the ocean. The volume of water in the Amazon River is greater than the next eight largest rivers in the world combined and three times the flow of all rivers in the United States.

Change is coming to Rotary World

Beginning with the April 2010 issue, Rotary International is publishing, an interactive, online publication featuring practical information and links to help club and district officers meet the challenges they face every day. Current club presidents, district governors, and subscribers who have provided accurate e-mail addresses will receive Rotary Leader automatically, but any Rotarian may subscribe to this free publication at any time. Club presidents-elect, district governors-elect, club secretaries, and assistant governors are especially encouraged to subscribe.
