Presidents Message

As I approach the second half of my term as president, it's a great time to reflect. I would first like to thank all who have contributed to I feel a very successful year. With successful results with The Car Show, Dictionary for Kids, The President's Marathon Challenge and Christmas for Kids Projects, increases in overall membership to include not only quality, but active members and subtle improvements in The Bulletin. The club continues to move in the right direction. The club has included a social event, Tuesday Tastings, which will be carried forward into 2010. Upcoming events include: Dining with Rotary Chefs, which helps support The Rotary Foundation, will be held at Wedgewood Country Club on Sunday, January 31,2010. From 5:30PM - 7:30PM guests will mingle, munch, and enjoy LIVE music by PDG Dan Spenser's band "SENSATION". The cost is $30 / person. Make checks payable to: The Rotary Foundation. All proceeds from the tickets sold will go directly to The Rotary Foundation. Each club member's ticket purchase will be credited toward their club's Foundation goal. Other projects include the President's Project to assist the Greater Woodbury Food Ministry, Hands Across the District, an event to support the Rotary Foundation, a day out with the GSE team from Norway on Thursday, May 20th and District Conference held at Princess Royale in Ocean City, Maryland from May 21-23rd. Lets continue to support each other for the good of the cause.

For the Good of Rotary,  Pres. Jim

Enjoy Rotary! Get involved and experience the joy of "Making Dreams Real!"

Rotary Factoid

More than 80 years after Rotary adopted International Service as its fourth Avenue of Service, it is a thriving, bustling avenue indeed. It brings together students, young adults, and Rotarians from disparate cultures and is the glue that cements countless projects in almost every country on earth. To some it may seem a contradiction: it delivers tens of millions of dollars in aid - yet it is not about money. It encourages citizens of hostile nations to talk with one another - yet Rotary International remains nonpolitical and refuses to act as a corporate entity in resolving such conflicts. It espouses the attributes of every major world religion - yet Rotary has no religious message or affiliation.

Business Note of the Day
Housing Market to Stabilize in 2010: Report While some economists are concerned about the possibility of an ongoing housing market downturn in 2010, one new report finds that increased home affordability and government incentives will help stabilize the housing market in the coming year. The RPX Monthly Housing Market Report, released by real estate data and analytics company Radar Logic, contends that household incomes also will stabilize after unemployment peaks in the second or third quarter. Banks and financial institutions holding onto the backlog of distressed properties are expected to release them back into the market gradually, so the homes will be absorbed without drastically reducing prices.

 Phase II

 of Rotary Park upgrade

is underway

This phase will entail raising funds to install a monument as a recognition for our nation's sons and daughters who served our Country:  Past, Present, Peacetime, Wartime, Killed, or Survived.

"Some gave all, all gave some."
