Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale

The Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale provides the finest musical training to talented boys and men from the Greater Philadelphia area, regardless of their ethnic, religious or economic backgrounds. The Choir performs a diverse repertoire emphasizing the preservation and promotion of American music. Our goal is for each boy to achieve artistic excellence, strength of character, self-discipline and focus through the rehearsal and performance of music. Boys learn the importance of hard work, decorum, diversity and the appreciation of international and cultural traditions. The Choir represents the United States and Philadelphia throughout the world as America's Ambassadors of Song

Quote of the Day

"Music is a strange thing.

I would almost say

it is a miracle.

For it stands halfway between thought and phenomenon, between spirit and matter."

Rotary Factoid

Rotarians have felt drawn to serve the needs of children and young people from the earliest days of the International Association of Rotary Clubs. In December 1913, the Rotary Club of Syracuse, New York, appointed a crippled children’s committee. Their interest was sparked by the plight of a disabled girl whose parents couldn’t afford the surgery and rehabilitation that was needed to restore her mobility. The Syracuse herald endorsed the club’s project and in two weeks collected $2,728.74 from its readers.

Business Note of the Day

Economists who anticipated November's growth in the U.S. job market now say more job gains are around the corner. The November unemployment rate dropped to 10 percent, and they say that the worst employment drop since WWII has already ended.
"Firms are now beginning to redeploy some of their cash flows" toward hiring new employees, said Stefane Marion, chief economist at National Bank Financial of Montreal. And revisions have added 159,000 jobs to September and October's payrolls.
Between January and September, corporate profits surged 21 percent, the largest increase since 2004. Inventories simultaneously plunged at a record pace, setting the stage for a ramp-up in production that leads to hiring.
