Today's Program

Mr. Brian Wolfson

Tricon Developers
G.G. Green Project

Woodbury Rotary has been well briefed on what could be the future of downtown Woodbury. Anthony started with an explanation of the Woodbury Master Plan that included the GG Green restoration and the Antique Center Redevelopment. Next we had Robert Melvin, Principal, of the Group Melvin Design. Group Melvin Design is responsible for the redevelopment study for City of Woodbury and he described the results of this study. Then came Ms. Rhonda Abbruzzese

Executive Director Main Street Woodbury with her take on downtown Woodbury.

Today it’s Brian Wolfson, lead principal of Tricon Development Partners, wants to restored this historic building to its former glory. Tricon Development Partners have announced plans to redevelop the building into a performing arts center. Brian briefed us on the progress and lack of same he is experiencing.

Quote of the Day

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."

Presidents Message

The quote of the week was the message delivered by Regi Campbell at the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast, which was held Thursday, December 3rd. Gratitude should be a theme we share throughout the year, but is typically present during the holiday season. Congratulations to club members Mark Parker, Greg Jones & Jack Magee who were on the committee that organized a great event. The Christmas for Kids project was held this morning with a full report to follow at our lunch meeting. Dining with Rotary Chefs, which helps support The Rotary Foundation, will be held at Wedgewood Country Club on Sunday, January 31, 2010. More details on this event will be announced at future meetings.

For the Good of Rotary, Pres. Jim

Enjoy Rotary! Get involved and experience the joy of "Making Dreams Real!"

Rotary Factoid

Despite tense Arab-Israeli relations, the 35- member Rotary Club of Nazareth, Israel, hosted both Jewish and Arab Rotarians from 13 clubs in Israel. The group included the mayor of Nazareth, who is a Christian Arab, and the mayor of Haifa, Israel, who is Jewish. The Nazareth club sponsors a US$20,000 Matching Grant that helps teach entrepreneurial skills to young Arabs in Nazareth.

Business Note of the Day

Richard Bach dropped out of college after one year to train to become an aviator pilot. Twenty months later after Bach obtained his wings he resigned. He later went on to become editor of the magazine “Aviator.” The magazine went bankrupt, and Bach had one failure after another only to write a book entitled “Jonathan Livingstone Seagull.” The manuscript lay dormant for over eight years since he did not have an ending for the book. The book was rejected by several publishers until it was finally published and became a huge success for Richard Bach.
