Quote of the Day
"Let us remember that,
as much has been given us,
much will be expected from us, and true homage comes
from the heart
as well as the lips,
and shows itself in deeds."

| Presidents Message |
|
The Tuesday Tastings, which was held at the Barnesboro Inn on Tuesday, November 17th was a huge success. There were 23 people in attendance, which included members from our club with spouses and a few from the Breakfast Club. What a great occasion to meet outside club meetings and socialize. Several members commented that our club should hold such an event again. Thanks to Greg Jones for coordinating the event and Tom Budd for providing the venue, wine and delicious hors d'oeuvres. Please sign-up or ask how you can get involved in the Christmas for Kids project, which is fast approaching. As far as the President's Marathon Challenge. I SURVIVED!! Thanks to everyone who contributed to a great cause. Final donation totals will be presented at the next club meeting. Our next Board Meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 1st at 7:45 AM at Budd Realty. Finally and most important: Happy Thanksgiving to all Members and Their Families.

In 1976, the RI Board of Directors was interested in creating a concise definition of the fundamental aspects of Rotary. They turned to Rotary's Public Relations Committee, which prepared a one - sentence summary that is still used today:

| Business Note of the Day |
| Inflation can cause problems, to be sure. Even modest inflation shrinks the buying power of your paycheck and your savings, and severe price increases make it hard for businesses to plan. But mild inflation encourages immediate spending and investment, helping the economy to grow. Deflation, on the other hand, can initiate a vicious cycle that winds up hobbling the economy. You put off spending because you figure you'll get more for your money if you wait, and the drop in demand forces companies to lower prices even further. Meanwhile, companies expecting to get lower prices for their wares cut production and lay off workers - depressing wages and pushing down demand even more. Such a deflationary spiral was a major contributor to the Great Depression. |
