Quote of the Day
Thankfulness "As we express our gratitude,
we must never forget that
the highest appreciation
is not to utter words,
but to live by them."

Witness
President Jim Kelleher's Challenge Cheer Jim on at one of the many Cheer Zones. All of the excitement, including entertainment, can be enjoyed from these lively “bird’s eye” and scenic sites along the beautiful Philadelphia Marathon race course. The designated spectator Cheer Zones feature unobstructed, transportation accessible, fan-friendly “perches” to catch all of the race activity. Click here to download a map to see what cheer zone you'll be at this year. Times posted below indicate approximate times runners will be by each zone. The race starts at 7:00am.

Rotarians are often the first to respond with emergency relief to distant disasters. Following Turkey's devastating 1999 earthquake, which took 3000 lives, Rotarians in District 3640 (Korea) quickly raised US$22,000 to provide food, supplies, and set-up tents for the homeless. By year's end, they had donated $146,000 for earthquake relief in Turkey and Taiwan. Rotarians in Germany also provided extensive aid

| Business Note of the Day |
| Ask an Australian what he or she thinks of the World's Worst Financial Crisis Since the Great Depression and the response just might be, "What crisis?" Sure, the Aussie stock market lost 59 percent peak to trough and some people lost their jobs, but relatively speaking, Armageddon gave Australia a free pass. Down Under was the only developed country to avoid technical recession. The stock market has bounced back almost 30 percent since mid July. And housing? Home prices are actually higher now than in the summer of 2007. Last week, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) increased its benchmark interest rate by 0.25 percent, a clear indication that in the central bank's opinion the danger has passed. |
